Website Development Progress

This is a photograph of my "Coding is Cool" website.

The skills that I learnt in this sequence of lessons includes my improvement within HTML codes, such as <p> (paragraph/text), h1,h2,h3 (headings) and section (gives you a box, to section off information) etc. Along with being able to know more about CSS codes, which allows you to enhance the information that you present in your website, such as font colours/sizes, background layout and so much more.

I could use theses skills again, if I were to create future websites or games, within my journey in Digital Technology. I could also use these skills if I'd like to improve/enhance my skills within coding.

Website Development - Reflection

Website Development - Reflection

Introduction to HTML Slidedesk

Within the Website Development tasks, one of the activites were Introduction to HTML Slidedeck. The purpose of this task was to allow pupils to learn and develop coding skills within the HTML code/coding script. Towards this activity I had both completed and sumbitted the Introduction to HTML Slidedeck, as well as this I was able to meet the criteria whilst following the instructions. Because of the activity I have learned about how to code I was able to apply this to my own website, with this being I found the task very easy to do because of the instructions that were given to use whilst doing the task at the same time, such as being able to apply paragraphs that hold information, along with being able to apply images and videos. I found the activity very useful within making my website, and because of this I will be able to learn about more codes that I can apply in my website.

Learn CSS Tutorials Slidedeck

Within the Website Development tasks, one of the activities I had worked on was Learn CSS Tutorials Slidedesk. The purpose of this task was to build skills within coding for the CSS script. Towards this activity I had both completed and sumbitted the Learn CSS Tutorials Slidedesk, as well as this I was able to meet the critera of the work that was given. Because of the activity I have learned about I am now able to apply this code to my own website, such as being able to change both the colour and fonts of the paragraphs or speech that is in the website. Because of this I had found the activity easy because of the instructions that were given to use whilst doing the task at the same time. I found the activity very useful within making my website, and because of this I will be able to learn about more code that I can apply in my website.

Make a Website Tutorials Slidedeck

Within the Website Development tasks, one of the activites were Make a Website Tutorials Slidedesk. The purpose of this task was to allow pupils to learn about different codes to apply in a website, such as applying headings and images, Towards this activity I had both completed and sumbitted the Make a Website Tutorials Slidedesk, as well as this I was able to meet the critea that was given for the task. Because of the activity I have learned about, I am able to develop my skills within using different codes, such as being able to add links which is seens as a Anchor Element code and apply both unordered and ordered lists. Within this activity I had found it average to complete this is because for some of the tasks I had found it a little confusing when the code would not work, within this I will be able to apply these different codes in my website.

Website Competition Layout 1

Within the Website Development tasks, one of the activites were Website Competition Layout 1. The purpose of this task was to allow pupils to build and develop skills within apply code. Towards this activity I had both completed and sumbitted the Website Competition Layout 1, as well as this I was able to meet the critea that was given for the task. Because of the activity I have learned I am able to apply basic coding into my website, or use the codes that I have learned add development and improve the layout for my wesbite. Within this activity I had found this activity very easy because of the basic coding that had already been available.

Website Competition Layout 2

Within the Website Development tasks, one of the activites were Website Competition Layout 2. The purpose of this task was to give one the ability to learn more about different codes and layouts that can be applied in a website. Towards this activity I had both completed and sumbitted the Website Competition Layout 2, as well as this I was able to meet the critea that was given for this specific task. Because of the activity I was able to learn about the different layouts with websites, along with learning basic codes. Within this activity I had found this activity very easy because of the instructions and codes that were already available for the task.

Website Competition Layout 3

Social Responsibility - Jedi Dodgeball

Social Responsibility

What is Social Responsibility?
Making responsible decisions  towards behaviour and involvement, such as Attitudes , Values, Responsible Decisons.

Jedi Dodgeball:
Within the game that we had played on Monday the 15th of October 2018, I found myself as a level 3/4 because I showed “Self-Responsibility” and “Caring”, which is:
  • Showing Respect
  • Making good choices
  • Honest and Fair
  • Works with everyone in the class willingly
  • Askes and provides assistance to teacher and other students.
Meaning that I was able to show everything of the above during the sport, along with developing my skills which are Self-Management.

For next lesson/practical I’d like to be able to participate more within the game we had played today, and for more games yet to come! I’d like to be able to work a little bit more with my peers around me!

Highlight of my Holiday

The highlight of my holiday was the YWCA Camp that I had participated in during the first 3 days of the holidays (Tuesday the 2rd - Thursday the 4th). Which is where we met other young girls around the age of 13/14/15 within four other schools, along with doing activities to get to know each other and even ourselves, and being able to be more confident in yourself.

Ways I can make sure I can get the most out of 2018!

Make sure that I achieve all my goals that I have set for myself. Along with improving some of my skills within all the subjects I take! Along with becoming more confident with myself. I’d also like to take every opportunity that is given to me so that I am able to make the most of 2018.

UDHR Inquiry - Paige Paraha

UDHR Inquiry
The unit is about Human Rights. It is about the individual rights, everyone person has, along with the 30
rules/laws/rights we are given, equally, made by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
I chose Article 20, because I thought of it being more interesting to learn more about, learning about
both the positive and negative actions that are related to this article. It means that everyone has equal
rights of being able to belong to a peaceful society, people around me like my friends, family, and even
myself to not be forced and/or “tricked” into doing things they don't want to do or join, such as a a gang,
group (cliques) etc. The effect it has on society, is that everyone is given the right to assembly and
association. Such as given the right to participate, or with hold a protest against anyone within reason to
make this world a better place for every individual person, but at the same time protests can be turned
down, and end up having innocent people thrown into jail.

E.g (Positive/Successful Protest)
White Ribbon is a protest that is held in New Zealand every year, against abuse caused by men toward
women. This is a very successful protest that is held.

Be given a law where protests, strikes, etc can be held in a peaceful way and/or assemblies and/or
associations, so they are given their rights, without them being breached or taken away from them.

Paige's Well-Being

Mental/Emotional:
Will was overjoyed when he recieve tickets from Uncle Phil, but turned it down and had to confess to having the pills in his locker. It made him extremely upset that it got to a point where he almost killed Carlton, because he had the pills in his locker. He broke down in tears appologies for what he had done, knowing that he could have lost someone he loved some much.

The reason this affects Mental and Emotional because he was upset and broken down for what he had done. Because when you cry and feel guilty about something it has a huge impact on your mental and emotional well-being... which is why this affects this well-being. This is positive affect because he had confessed and let off his chest that it was his locker that the pills had came from but then a it could have torn the family appart, because for most troubling kids it wouldn't be easy for them to tell their parents or loved ones about what they've done, but because he was strong enough to tell them he was able to be brave and do the right thing. It was also a positive affect on his well-being because he was able to be honest and true to himself, and let out the love that he has for his Cousin, which is why it affects Mental and Emotional because of the mental progress of having to push himself to tell his Uncle, and his cousin of his wrong doings.

Social Well-Being

Will had felt that he had broken up the family, that he could have lost someone so close to him whom could have ended up dead. Everyone in his family had a close relationship, but because he had told Uncle Phil and his family that it was him who's locker the pills had came from, he had to appologies... To not ruin the relationship they all had.

This affects Social Well-being because social can relate to family and friends, and because he could have lost his Cousin whom meant so much to him, it affects one of the walls of Hauora, which leads all of the walls to colapses. He was angry and upset, because he wasn't the only that was mad and upset but so was his Uncle Phil and the other family members.

Food Technology - Hot Cakes

Today, in Food Technology we made hot cakes. The reason for this is to help develop our skills on "How to read ingredients and follow instructions. We had to learn about how to make hot Cakes a specific was while following the instructions, along with following how much of the ingredients are needed specifically. I found that I did quite good... Just need to work on my timing for which the food won't be over or under cooked.

Hot Cakes:

Step 1 - Mix together in the big measuring bowl - 1 1/2 cup of plain flour, 1 tsp of baking powder, 1/2 cup of sugar, 1 cup of milk, 1 egg.

Step 2 - Mix well using a whisk.

Step 3 - In a frying pan, heat up the oil, 2 cakes at a time, wait until bubbles appear on the face of the cake, then flip over and cook until golden brown.

Step 4 - Serve cakes and then clean/enjoy.

Math (Education Perfect)

This year for Maths, I've been using Education Perfect, that has been happily added to our school learning! This learning website has helped me a lot with my learning. Giving me a little more of an understanding of what I need to be learning. Education Perfect has not only helped me improve with my learning but has helped me be more confident with my work because of the help I have been given from my teacher and also Education Perfect from the examples and clues it has given me!

I appreciate all of the help that has been given to me by my Math Teacher Mr. Koch. He had helped me with understanding to get me to where I need to be! Taking his time out of his work to help me get a bigger understanding of what I was trying to learn! Let alone get me to the level I needed to be at!

Thank you, Mr. Koch, for all of the necessary help! You've helped me so much, and help prepare me for Year 10! I am very grateful for all that you have done for me!

My 2017 Highlight

To see all of the smiles on everyone's faces was a joy! The laughter and excitement that came from everyone just brightened my day. Not having to worry about drama and just have a great time with my friends was my highlight for 2017! Being able to get along and communicate with everyone whether they were my friends or not! It was something that I found intriguing. Everyone had an amazing time having fun! I loved hanging out with different people instead of my friends! It really helped me get over my shyness and helped me be a little more confident with myself.

2017 may have not been an amazing year for everyone but throughout all of the successes that everyone had achieved just made everything better.
2017 wouldn't be one of my favorite years but some of the things that happened throughout 2017 were! Being able to accept 5 awards for my prize giving was an honor! Getting a better understanding of my learning. And knowing that all of my hard work had paid off! Let alone knowing that all of my successes this year will really help strive for a larger amount of success for next year! With all of my achievements will definitely give my younger siblings something to think about! No matter what situation you are in, nor the things you are going through in life, you're are still very capable of achieving all of your goals that are set for you! As long as you try your best, never give up! And ask for help when you need it or not!

Digital Footprint

So this is my Digital Footprint. In my footprint there is apps and websites that I have been on for the last 2 days. The smaller the size the less I used the app throughout those 2 days, and the bigger the size the more I use the app.

What we are trying to learn about is all of the apps we go on isn't private. If you have a private instagram it isn't private because there are those few people that know how to see you so called private instagram without even following you.

A digital footprint is the information about a person or people that exists on the "internet" as a result of their online activities. And leaving behind your print of being on those apps/websites.

Hāuora

So today I have created a presentation explaining Hāuora. Hāuora is a Maori Model of Health

Fono Fale - Questions and Answers

So today I have created a document explaining the answers to questions about the Fono Fale.

What is the fono fale?

The fono fale is a model which was created by Fuimaono Karl Pulotu-Endermann as a Pacific Island model of health. The concept of the Samoan Fale or house is used as an image to describe a Pacific view of important factors in healthy development.

What is different about it  compared to Hāuora?

The fono fale is a model representing the Pacific Island Model of Health - This is the Samoan version of Health , while the Hāuora is based on a Marae/whare representing the Maori Model of Health - This is the Maori version of Health.

What is similar compared to Hāuora?

Fono Fale and Hāuora are both based on a Model of Health but are both represented by different culture - Hāuora (Maori) - Fono Fale (Samoan).

Do you like the Hāuora model or the Fono Fale model more? Why?

To me personally, I will have to like the Hāuora more because I know more about this Model, I understand this Model as well, while I don’t have a clue about the Fono Fale model, I haven’t learnt about this Model either but I would like to learn about it in the future.

Black Gold, Hair extensions - Reflection

Today, I have been reading an article about Black,Gold hair extensions. I find this article quick interesting and I would like to learn/more about this article.

WALA: events that happen around the world.

I find this article very interesting how women are getting there hair cut/shaved off and sold to people or put in salons as hair extensions. I also find this article interesting that lots of the women they have been mentioned  in the article don't really care about having extensions glued/taped/woven into there roots, But they know about some of the consequences they have toward having them, And knowing that they are wearing someone else's hair but they just don't think about it like they don't think about the cow when they eat a burger. At is all the same thing. But also I find this very upsetting that there are women and girls that are getting there hair cut off, being focused by there parents so they are able to get payed, yes they need the money but cutting of your children's hair isn't a very nice thing to do to anyone especially hen they don't want there hair cut, when theses girls look in the mirror and see that they don't have the hair they you'd to have they cry and it isn't fair for anyone to go through things like this.

In all story, texts and article there is a purpose, and for every purpose there is a reason.
I think the authors purpose of this article is to let women know that there are things in the world that can make you happy, physically and emotional. There are things that can make you feel normal and make you feel like no one is going to judge you for what you are, what you wear, the types of things you eat, the type of people you hang out with, because when you really think about it the only reason people are selling hair, and people are buying the hair for extensions is to make them feel good and if they want and have hair extensions you should judge them for there chooses they are feeling comfortable in there own skin and if they are wanting to get surgery or get hair extensions let them  get it, just encourage them and be on there side.
But I also think the authors purpose of this article is to let people know that it isn't fair for young girls to get there her cut/shaved of under the focus of there parents, it isn't fair they are being focused to do something they don't want to do.

In China there is high demands towards getting your cut/shaved and sold to people or salons, but why do I think there is such high demands for hair and that is what I will be  telling you today. I think there are such high demands for hair because hair can be very valuable if you know a lot about hair.
For example: virgin hair, that which has never been dyed, straightened or blow-wave, is so valuable it's called Black Gold and because of this when buying the hair as extensions it will been very expensive. Most hair extensions cost up to $700 to $2000. The longer and thicker, the better and higher the price. I also think there is is such high demands because there a different types of hair and different hair cost different price but the prices that are set to be sold as isn't a cheap cost. The regular cost of hair is $700 to &2000 but the more valuable hair can cost up to $2000 to $7000 if you are trying to get extra volume and added length.

Society would be different if it wasn't in demand, people would usually say that society is unrealistic but it's only because people don't understand that enormous consequences they would have our society. If that doesn't make people change there minds, something new with take over or come in. But if society were to change because it wasn't in demand, everything will changed. People will understand things less. People will know less about the society and the world. If Society were to change because it wasn't in demand, life would be poorly, people will learn things poorly. So many find society as unrealistic and fake because they aren't understanding the demands, rules and information that comes with it, and because of the information rules, and demands that come with it some people are able to understand the information that is given and it will just make society a better place for everyone.

Te Reo - Reflection

Today I have created a document explaining some questions I will have to answer. So what I am reflecting on is a serves that I have filled out about using Te Reo Maori in schools and at home.

WALT: create a DLO, showing some questions and answers towards a serves that we filled ut about speaking Te Reo Maori at school, at home and in the community.

What is Te Reo? And what does it mean in your own words.

Te Reo is a language that is mostly spoken in New Zealand, Which is the Maori Language. Because a lot of people don't speak Maori much it will soon die. But that is why parents and teachers are starting to teach and encourage their children and other people to learn and teach them so that the Maori would exist for another 100 years... In my own words Te Reo means the language. The language that is spoke by different people, by different cultures but most likely to be spoken by Maori people. The official language of New Zealand is Te Reo Maori, New Zealand Sign Language and English.

What percentage of people speak Maori now vs how many people spoke Maori 100 years ago?

In 2016, the percent of people that speak Maori lost about 80% of the language has been lost and the percentage of people that spoke Maori 100 years ago was 95%. Towards theses percentages there has been a very big change and not a lot of people speak it that much. Thats is why people should start teach their kids the language or maybe in 100 years the language will no longer exist and there might be a new language that will take over the Maori Language.

How many languages die every week? And how does this happen?

From research and several websites that I have looked at says that One Language dies every 14 days. And there is roughly 7,000 languages spoken in the world. A percent of the time the languages is when the last language speaker dies, 30% of the languages in the world are currently losing speakers or are more seriously endangered. Most of theses have never been recorded and so would be lost forever. And about 50% of the languages spoken today will disappear in the next 100 years. Some even argue that up to 90% of today's languages will have disappeared by 2115.

What are the 3 official languages in New Zealand and in the World?

The 3 official languages that are spoken in New Zealand is English, New Zealand Sign Language and Te Reo Maori. Theses languages have been official for a very long time. English and Maori. But there has been several changes over the years.

Why is speaking Maori important?

Speaking Maori is important because it is a language that is spoken by a lot of people and has been around for over 30,000 years. Having the language still exist means so much to the people who are Maori, Because the Maori culture is in there blood and deserve to keep the language in the country they live in.

In the future, what do you believe will be the main languages spoken around the world. Why do you think that?

I think the main languages that will be spoken around the world will be probably still English, Asian and maybe Indian. I don't really have a reason to why I think this. Maybe because there is a lot of people that speak theses languages and just because you're not the culture doesn't mean you can learn a new language. Because in the world a lot of countries and people speak english but don't you think it will be cool if you were able to speak different language that is kinda difficult to learn.
